Flame International Kabob House-Inspired By Persian Food

August 11th, 2015 / Santa Monica, CA / Meshpress

Enjoying Mediterranean and Persian cuisine is quite healthy and very tasty. Jay Javanshir, the overseer of this fine restaurant has been cooking from childhood. He’s observed what spices and herbs bring out the best taste in their lamb, chicken and fish dishes. Mo Mostashari, a visionary and entrepreneur who is the proprietor of Flame International, saw the need to have a ultra modern restaurant in Santa Monica that would provide superb cuisine of this type. Their banquet facilities are on the second floor and they have a outside patio for dining as well. Their facilities are exquisite with LCD screens throughout the restaurant presenting beautiful videos of nature. That is exactly why I joined them in what I call “a celebration of life.”
Tom Hallick, a seasoned actor who has starred in many films and formerly starred as Brad Garrett in “The Young and Restless,” and his wife Yin Jiang, a concert violinist with Andrea Bocelli joined me in a tasting of cuisine that inspired our senses. Our journey began with various appetizers. Torshi, Pickled Eggplant, is a preparation of pickled vegetables, cauliflower, eggplant, cabbage, carrots, cucumbers and garlic with herbs. The Sabzi Khordan, consist of imported cheeses, walnuts and fresh herbs. The traditional Hummus is prepared with olive oil, lemon juice and spices. These appetizers were served with pita bread. Tom Hallick raved about the walnuts and imported cheeses and Yin loved the hummus.
Each appetizer was exceptional to my point of view. Ah, the main dishes however were prepared with the traditional style of Mediterranean and Persian cuisine, with an exotic touch of fusion. The New Zealand Rack of Lamb with saffron rice and a charbroiled tomato, bell pepper and onions was a delight.Other dishes equally just as tasty were the Atlantic Salmon with imported basmati rice with a charbroiled tomato and the Walnut Pomegranate Stew, also known as Fesenjan. The Golden Crusted Saffron Rice Pie referred to as Tachin, is prepared with a seasoned rice and mixed with yogurt and saffron, than baked with either lamb or chicken and topped with barberries.”This is one of the most diversified meals I’ve had. Really great food”, states Tom Hallick.
As with anyone who has a sweet tooth, dessert is a nice way to end the evening.Persian ice cream was just the right touch, with a cup of their coffee. Hours of operation are 11:30 am to Midnight. The Flame International Kabob House is located at 11330 Santa Monica Boulevard, just west of the 405 freeway For reservations or  for weddings, private events, and corporate functions call (310) 444-0045.
